NASA Stand Test

This simple test helps identify whether changes in heart rate and blood pressure when standing may be contributing to symptoms such as dizziness, palpitations, fatigue, brain fog, or feeling faint.

You can complete this test at home or with the assistance of a nurse or healthcare professional.

Before you begin:

  • Rest lying down for 5 minutes.
  • Have a blood pressure monitor available if possible.
  • Ensure you are in a safe environment where you can sit or lie down if you feel unwell.
  • Stop the test if you feel unsafe or are at risk of fainting.

Record your heart rate and blood pressure while lying down, then again after standing for 1, 3, 5, and 10 minutes.

Once completed:

  • A copy of your results will be emailed to you for your records.
  • A copy will also be sent to FemaleGP to support your education and healthcare discussions (for our patients).  Please feel free to inform us, and avoid using identifying information.
