What is Mounjaro?
Mounjaro® (tirzepatide) is a once-weekly injection used for:
- Weight management
- Insulin resistance and Type 2 diabetes
- Metabolic health improvement
It works by mimicking gut hormones (GIP and GLP-1) that:
- Reduce appetite
- Slow stomach emptying
- Improve fullness and satiety
- Improve blood sugar regulation
In studies, Mounjaro has shown some of the greatest average weight loss currently seen with obesity medications.
Key things to remember
- Protect muscle and bone
- Prioritise protein
- Do resistance training
- Avoid under-eating
- Increase slowly
Slower dose increases may reduce:
- Nausea
- Constipation
- Fatigue
- Food aversion
- Hydration matters
Drink fluids regularly, especially if experiencing:
- Vomiting
- Diarrhoea
- Reduced appetite
- Constipation
- Oral medications may absorb differently (especially the contraceptive pill, and utrogestan for the first month of each dose use)

Click counting is off-label
Some clinicians use click counting to slow dose escalation, but:
It is not manufacturer-standard dosing
