Considering an appointment
Are we the right service for you?
We are a private women's health clinic, and do not provide an urgent service. You may wish to see your GP first, to see if initial management can be started as we usually have a wait for appointments. Then we can build on the work you have done with your GP. Referrals from other professionals are prioritised.
Our work together is often heavily weighted to the beginning of your health journey at FemaleGP. We want to give you the tools and the understanding to manage your health confidently and independently. Most clients have 2-3 clinical interactions over the first few weeks. We can sort out payment plans.
You will receive our casual patient registration link.
This is a secure form where you input your details and background and fill in the relevant questionnaires so we can best meet your needs.
Once we have received the form we will give you a call to arrange an appointment
If you have further questions email: firstname.lastname@example.org
While you wait for your appointment
Gather your information
Have a think about what you would like to learn about and your health aspects you would like to share. If your appointment is about your hormones think about how you feel in your body, and your mood over a menstrual cycle.
If your appointment is about prolapse or incontinence think about what your bowel and bladder are like.
Preparing for your appointment
Make the most of your time at FemaleGP Clinic
Please provide previous investigations/clinic letters if they have been done at private hospitals, and/or outside of Hawkes Bay. Summaries and timelines of your health history and symptoms are really helpful.
Have a look at our website and resources to understand what your journey may involve
Your first appointment
40-60 minutes | $430-530
Your 40-60mins of clinical time with Dr Samantha will be tailored to your needs and priorities. It will involve detailed discussion of your medical and personal history, focused examination, prescription & investigations. Your clinical care extends beyond your consult with post clinic administration, investigations and review of clinical information. We believe our fees reflect all the work that goes on to support you behind the scenes.
You may find it useful to look at some of the information available under Listen or Learn on our website
After your appointment
Your health journey continues
You will be added to the patient portal where you will be able to see the doctor notes of what was discussed, the plan will be written down and you will be emailed some extra resources (if applicable). A formal letter will be sent to your GP and yourself
Follow up appointment(s)
20-30 minutes | $160-250
Most of our clients have 2-3 appointments in a short space of time. Follow up appointments are 20-30 minutes long. We find that more time together initially, enables a better grasp of your needs and how to work together to help women feel empowered and understanding their own well-being
All appointments can be face-to-face, telephone or video call. Many women have a mixture. You are also welcome to bring a support person (or 2). And if your child needs to come, we will make that work as well. We believe that whanau [family] health is part of all health.
